Character is rarely tested under a spotlight. More often, it is tested in ordinary moments when doing the right thing would be slightly inconvenient and doing the wrong thing would be remarkably easy. The cashier gives you too much change. An item does not scan at self-checkout. Nobody would know if you exaggerated the expense, kept the extra money, blamed someone else, skipped the step, cut the corner, or quietly broke the rule. That is where character becomes visible.
